We, at MSOS, have for many years been designing and building Medical Kits for offshore sailing teams. We first started doing this in 1993 when Tommo designed a medical kit for Peter Blake and Robin Knox Johnston in their attempt to circumnavigate the globe in the Jules Verne Trophy in the yacht ENZA. From there Tommo went on to design, with Tim Spalding, the medical kits for the Whitbread/Volvo Round the World yachts and have continued to do that ever since.. Spike in the meantime was designing kits for the Challenge Round the world races with a different clientèle on board and so therefore a different requirement in medicines and equipment. Tommo has also designed and built many kits for boats ranging from Swan 40’s to Leopard and other race boats. All these boats have had different schedules and itineries and requirements and so all have been slightly different in their makeup. Since joining forces in 2008 MSOS have put together medical kits for the Vendee Globe, Pete Goss, several out and out race boats and some charter and cruising boats. We have also designed the kits for the Volvo 08/09 race. We feel that we therefore are in a position to design a kit for you that will satisfy your needs whether you are racing a 30 foot day sailer to a multi maxi race boat with kits for the shore container and the rib! You will find if you purchase a kit from us the contents are stored in a sensible packaged format with, for example, all the antibiotics in one labelled see through pouch. We often use Peli cases to store the medical kits as these are robust and waterproof and survive the rigors of ocean racing.
