Commercial & Remote

Reliable Medical Support for commercial shipping and land-based operations

MSOS provides comprehensive, worldwide medical support for an extensive range of clients, based at sea and on land.

MSOS delivers this service for a wide range of commercial shipping clients, land-based operations such as defence and security providers, and adventure wilderness expeditions.

The service comprises telemedical support provided by UK-based Doctors who are experts in remote medicine, a wide range of both commercial regulation-compliant and bespoke medical kits, and specialist medical training.

Medical kits

MSOS supplies medical kits for commercial shipping which comply with licensing authorities around the world, including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).

MSOS also designs and supplies medical kits for land-based operations and expeditions. These are designed according to the specific requirements of the type of activity being undertaken.

Training

MSOS is approved by the MCA to provide training courses such as Medical First Aid and Medical Care. In addition, MSOS also provides courses on cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the use of oxygen and defibrillators, advanced wound repair and more.

Bespoke specialist courses are available which provide training for medical skills required for particular commercial or adventure wilderness expedition requirements.

Training courses can be provided on board client vessels or locations on land, anywhere in the world. In addition, MSOS also provides classroom-based training.

Telemedical support

Telemedical support provides essential reassurance and support in remote locations. MSOS provides twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week service, direct to UK-based doctors, coordinated by a 24/7 Control Room. The MSOS team of doctors who provide this advice are experts in remote medicine and telemedical support

When receiving a call from a client vessel offshore, or client team on land, medical advice is imparted in the context of the client’s location, prevailing conditions, and the resources and skills of the crew or team.

From managing injuries or illnesses, to offering expert guidance on preventative care, MSOS ensures the health and safety of all client personnel, helping maintain safe, smooth operations across all sectors of the commercial maritime industry and the wide spectrum of on-land remote operations.

Themis Telemedical Communication Platform

The Themis Telemedical Communication Platform (TCP) is a 'Case Management' system that provides the capability for recording all medical information of an incident, including measuring vital signs, and automatic real-time transmission of the information to an onshore Control Room.

The purpose of the system is to provide full availability of all information regarding a casualty, including physiological parameters and medical background, to the advising Doctor immediately. This ensures the Doctor has all relevant information to hand, to aid diagnosis and advice given to the client.

The Themis TCP is completely integral to telemedical support offshore and onshore. The only requirement for usual operation is internet access, although the system can operate independently offline.

When integrated with MSOS telemedical support, Themis significantly enhances diagnosis and decision-making during medical emergencies, ensuring timely and accurate interventions. Its comprehensive capabilities make it a vital tool for maintaining health and safety in challenging environments.
