Aircraft Medical Kits

Medical kits for aircraft are regulated by national aviation authorities around the world.

There are many similarities between the various regulations, and so MSOS kits are designed to meet or exceed all applicable regulations for the area of operation for the client. The range of requirements are incorporated into the design of a single kit, providing an economic and operationally convenient solution for the client, avoiding involved changeover of kits when travelling between different countries or regions.

An important facet of providing one composite medical kit solution for aircraft is that training can be centred on instructing crew in the use of one set of medicines and medical equipment, leading to greater specific knowledge and capability.

There are three levels of medical kit in the aviation range. The most basic is the ‘Aircraft first aid kit – cabin’, the intermediate is the ‘Aircraft First Aid Kit (FAK)’, and most advanced is the ‘Aircraft Emergency Medical Kit (EMK)’. The more advanced kits incorporate the other kits into their design, and this has the distinct advantage of increasing intuitiveness of use for the crew, when using different kits. All kits are laid out in a modular format, both labelled and colour-coded to aid use, which is invaluable in an emergency. They can be supplied either in soft bags or Pelicases.

The contents of the cabin first aid kit include supplies for cleaning and dressing small wounds, and even small burns. There are also gloves to protect the crew if dealing with body fluids such as blood. A CPR pocket face mask is also provided in the event of respiratory or cardiac arrest by someone in the cabin.

Aircraft First Aid Kit (FAK)

The Aircraft First Aid Kit incorporates the cabin first aid kit, together with ‘over-the-counter’ medicines for treating several complaints common amongst aircraft passengers. The kit also includes equipment for managing various medical problems, and a medical manual and medical incident report book.

Aircraft Emergency Medical Kit (EMK)

The EMK kit is the most advanced kit, incorporating the cain first aid kit and the FAK kit. In addition, the kit includes advanced medicines and equipment for managing a wide range of medical problems that may occur on board.
