Course details
This course should be undertaken every five years, to keep the MCA Proficiency in Medical Care in-date. The course usually runs over three days, but can be extended to four days depending on the requirements of the crew.
This medical refresher course includes revisiting some theoretical aspects of human anatomy and physiology, but there is a strong emphasis on revising practical skills, and the treatment of specific medical illnesses covered in the MCA Medical Care Course.
World class medical training
Courses are held at the MSOS training centres in Palma, Southampton, Antibes and Fort Lauderdale, or onboard your own vessel. MSOS instructors are all medically qualified, and have extensive experience as sailors. They know what it’s like to deal with anything from a sore throat in the North Atlantic, to a broken leg on the foredeck of a boat in the Southern Ocean.
Bespoke & specialist training courses
Courses can be created for any scenario including care of children, the elderly, diving injuries or use of a kit or equipment.
MSOS also provides specialist courses on cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the use of oxygen and defibrillators, advanced wound repair and more. Familiarisation courses are also offered, upon delivery of a new kit to a boat.
